As inventor of the Photo-Etching technology Microplane has revolutionized the grating: Microplane graters cut without effort the cutting products instead of crushing them.
Microplane Master Series with RedDot Award!
The combination of a practical walnut handle, a robust stainless steel frame and a photo-etched stainless steel blade provides for precise grating results. Statement by the jury: These elegant graters are based on a consistent design concept that, above all, reveals itself in high effectiveness.
From woodworking to the kitchen….By now, cooking aficionados worldwide are familiar with the story: The big moment for the Microplane grater came in 1994, when a Canadian housewife, was making an orange cake. Out of frustration with her old grater, she commandeered one of her husband’s favorite woodworking tools. She slid the orange across its blades and was amazed: Lacy shards of zest fell from its surface like snowflakes. The discovery that the Microplane wood working tool, effortlessly produced the lightest orange zest one would have ever imagined laid the foundation for the success of the Microplane graters.
The speaciality of the Microplane graters: They are extremely sharp and yield optimal grating results. The tiny razorsharp blades cut food instead of tearing or shredding it so that the natural flavours can be kept. Unlike stamped graters the blades of the Microplane graters are etched with the Photo-Etching technology, which is a complex, patented, chemical process of production. The result of this procedure is a long-lasting and very sharp blade.
With this complex and special production technology Microplane has developped a large and over 50 years of experience perfectionated range of kitchen tools for an effective and effortless grating, rasping and cutting with long-lasting and sharp blades, which make cooking a special experience.
